Fletchanator's comment: Another one-record-and-out band, Cobra are probably best remembered for featuring Jimi Jamison before he joined Survivor (where he replaced beret-wearing Dave Bickler and sang such hits as Burning Heart and The Moment of Truth). Jamison's singing makes it hard not to compare this with Survivor - if you like Survivor you'll dig this.

MY NAME IS CHRIS DAVIS & I'LL BE 43 IN MAY. I WAS JUST A KID WHEN THE BAND TARGET, OF THE LATE 70'S, MADE ITS DEBUT IN THE ROCK WORLD. I WAS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD WHEN MY EARS CAUGHT THE TARGET SONG "IT'S ONLY LOVE",1977 ON A RADIO STATION IN MEMPHIS. I'VE LIVED IN MEMPHIS ALL MY LIFE, AND MEMPHIS WAS A HOT BED FOR ROCK & ROLL. THE NEXT DAY, I WENT TO THE LOCAL K-MART AND BOUGHT THE TARGET ALBUM "CAPTURED". IT WAS ON VYNAL & I WORE THAT THING OUT!!!!! IN 1982, JAMISON PUT TOGETHER AN ALL-STAR BAND "COBRA". COBRA'S ORIGINAL NAME WAS STEEL DRAGON. A LOCAL RADIO STATION, ROCK 103, HAD A CONTEST TO NAME THE NEWLY SIGNED BAND ON EPIC/COLUMBIA. AND THATS HOW COBRA WAS BORN. COBRA'S FIRST AND ONLY RELEASED ALBUM,"FIRST STRIKE". THIS ALBUM "FLOPPED" DUE TO BAD MGMT. I THOUGHT THIS ALBUM WAS SOOOOOO GREAT. IT JUST NEVER GOT THE RADIO PLAY OR LIVE VENUES IT NEEDED TO MAKE A BIG SPLASH IN THE ROCK INDUSTRY. WITH THE COBRA PROJECT OUT OF THE WAY, JAMISON WAS UNEMPLOYED AND HURT. THE BAND SURVIVOR WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF FINDING THEM A NEW LEAD SINGER. A GUY IN THE A & R DIVISION AT COLUMBIA RECORDS KNEW SURVIVOR WAS LOOKING FOR A NEW LEAD SINGER. HE STOPPED BY ONE DAY AT SURVIVOR'S STUDIO & BROUGHT WITH HIM THE COBRA FIRST STRIKE ALBUM. THEY WERE IN AWE OF THE "VOICE" OF JAMISON. THEY FLEW HIM UP TO CHICAGO TO AUDITION FOR SURVIVOR. THE REST WAS HISTORY. AT THE TIME, JAMISON DID THESE ALBUMS FOR SURVIVOR: 1984 VITAL SIGNS-1986 WHEN SECONDS COUNT-1988 TO SLEEP. WHILE SURVIVOR WAS COOLING OFF FROM BASICALLY 4 YEARS OF HARD TOURING, JAMISON WENT ON AND RECORDED HIS FIRST SOLO ALBUM: 1991 "WHEN LOVE COMES DOWN". JIMI JAMISON MADE A COMMENT THAT HE WOULD LOVE TO DO A DUET WITH JOURNEY'S STEVE PERRY. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT JAMO. I HEARD STEVE IS HARD TO GET IN TOUCH WITH. IN 1999, JIMI PUT OUT ANOTHER SMASH ALBUM "EMPIRES", AWESOME!!!!! KEEP ROCKIN JAMO...........CHRIS DAVIS IF ANY OF YOU GALS OUT THERE WANT TO "GET TOGETHER" AND TALK ABOUT MUSIC... MY E-MAIL IS: romo9cowboysdaryl@ gmail.COM ONE MORE THING THAT WAS AWESOME, IN THE SUMMER OF 1989, JIMI WAS PROMOTING A GRAND OPENING OF POP TUNES RECORD STORE IN HORN LAKE, MS. THATS WHEN JIMI ASK ME:,"DO YOU THINK IF I DID A SOLO ALBUM IT WOULD SALE IN THE MID-SOUTH. I TOLD HIM I'D BUY A HUNDRED OF THEM!!!! KEEP ROCKIN' JAMO!!!!!!!
